Storm King’s Thunder 11/01/2024

The group is led to the Mage’s Tower of Mirabar. They try to talk to the guard escorting them, Adrik Helcral a Captain of the Axe of Mirabar, but he’s a little less than helpful. At the tower, Adrik notifies the inhabitants of the party’s arrival, and the mystic door is once again opened. Inside, Faint Drop greets the party to escort them to meet Aldous Hale again.

On their way up the tower, they initially start asking Faint drop about Harper business, but she quickly reminds them that she’s undercover, even to Aldous, her friend. In Aldous Hale’s room, they are greeted by the mage who is a little confused as to what information the party can provide. The group tells the mage about the mustering of forces at Bryn Shander, and the greater threat of the giants to the other towns, but he is only concerned with the safety of Mirabar.

This upsets the party, Trowa in particular, and the party calls out his hypocrisy about his abjuration being used to only defend the wealthiest city, and the duty of the city to take in refugees. Aldous gets upset at the accusation and orders them to leave.

As Faint Drop leads them out, they talk about what went down at the temple. Most importantly, the search for the conches of the Storm Giant King, as well as the Cloud Giant Castle they might be looking for. She promises to keep an ear out, and gives the group a contact they can meet in Bryn Shander. Ghesh is a black dragonborn who can fill them in on the situation in the Ten Towns and help where he can.

Once outside the tower, the group decides to take the day to prepare, and check in with some friends. They meet with Skye of the Sunset Sage. Bohdan offers up some of the reagents they’ve collected, as well as find out what she thinks of the new development in their condition. She is unsure what to think, but tries to best to interpret what happened. Her vision requires some recalibration to see Bohdan’s new form.

Knowing they need to take on Iymrith at some point, they ask about Portions of Lightning Resistance. Skye can brew them, but it will take time, and even with the discounts she can provide, they’ll still cost 250gp each. She takes a ten percent down payment to begin work, as the group figures out how to get the rest of the money or possibly additional reagents to reduce the cost. Sky does mention Icedrake Roots that grows up in the towns that she could use and Bohdan says they’ll keep an eye out for it.

There is some talk about checking in with Reba Rumnaheim, the wife of a former Axe of Mirabar. She may have information about the going ons in Mirabar that might help find a way to get the city to take in refugees.

In the end they turn in at the Stone’s Fracture tavern to sleep before heading out to the teleportation circle the following day.
