As the Happy Childhood Bunch travels in the mountains, they are reunited with Faezorwyn. Angry at what happened with Faint Drop, Trowa questions Wyn’s purpose there. Wyn defends herself and says she looked into Faint Drop as well, but couldn’t find much more than she’s a high ranking member of the Harpers. Disturbed by how little they know about the one spying on them, the party puts it to the side for now to get to the temple.
As they got closer, they found a set of tracks of about 8 humanoids heading to the Eye of the All Father as well. Preparing for a fight, the party approached carefully. Wyn granted Trowa, Bohdan, and Araboe her Eyes of Night ability so they could see in the dark temple. Alfonse would rely on his natural darkvision.
At the entrance to the temple, they find pillars depicting the different Giant clans and their natural order. Inside the entrance hall, the group find a trap that would drop a multi ton stone block on an intruder. Treading carefully, they move one at a time past the trap without setting it off. Further in, they find a ledge that leads into places to explore, but they are distracted by the sound of Uthgardt Barbarians up ahead making a lot of noise.
Once again, they act carefully, with Wyn and Al hiding from the ledge, Trowa using a spell to speak the same language as the barbarian tribe, and Bohdan and Araboe flanking the wizard for protection.
When Trowa speaks to the barbarians, he finds some of them trying to chip through ice to get into the Temple proper, while a dragon wyrmling is held on a leash. Trowa tries to reason with the leader of the group, but the shaman woman next to him whispers something and a fight breaks out.
The party fights the barbarians, with the Shaman seeming to have something against Trowa specifically. As they whittle through the warriors and their pet dragon, the shaman is killed and her body reverts to that of a doppelganger. Trowa remembers a doppelganger who got away who was working with Nezznar, The Black Spider. The party corners the leader of the barbarians and try to question him, but he’s as confused as they are about the shapeshifter. He does reveal that she was the one who promised him riches if they found the temple. With nothing more to share, Trowa set the man on fire in an increasingly concerning new pattern for the young spellcaster.
Up at the doors to the temple, they find altars on either side, and Araboe offers up the massive greataxe Harshnag have her. It is accepted as an offering, and the doors to the temple open, some mechanism forcing them open and shattering the ice that held them closed.
